Cakes and breakfast 📸
I baked some cakes yesterday, and since people seem to like my last cake post, I will share some more of my cooking/baking and my recipes (in another post).
One of those days I noticed I had never baked one of my favorite cakes, Bolo Mole (I’m pretty sure it’s called Milk Cake in english). And because it stays a long time in the oven and we had too many bananas about to spoil, I decided to also bake a Caramelized Banana Cake.
Sadly my banana cake cracked in the middle1, my oven isn’t the best. But my milk cake came out perfect. I had the epiphany that milk cakes are nothing more than a “bolo solado” (I don’t know how to say that in english, but it’s when a cake doesn’t grow and doesn't get “fluffy”).
Well, today when I went to take my breakfast, I discovered 1/3 of my banana cake was eaten already (to be expected because my mom and sister love it). But I got to take the first piece of de bolo mole. If you've never eaten it, the texture is like cheese, isn’t very sweet, and has a soft taste.
So today my breakfast was two little pieces of cake, two toasts, and a cup of coffee. Fun fact! In portuguese breakfast's literal translation is “morning coffee”.
