Weird men and their blogs
So... I wanted to describe a situation I came across on the BR side of Bear. Well, some men here are, for lack of a better term, weirdos.
This is a topic that women will likely understand, since we pick up on these things more easily, but maybe some men notice it too (and maybe choose to ignore it).
Years ago, when my blog was primarily in portuguese and I used Komments on my posts, there was this guy who used to reply to me. I got curious and checked his blog, and well... if I could have blocked someone from reading my blog, I would have blocked him.
Have you ever read something someone wrote and thought, "Wow, this person has no respect for women"?
I don't remember the details very well since it’s been years, but I have blurry memories of a long, detailed post he wrote about meeting women and going to swingers' clubs.
…
I wish I’d never read it.
Recently, I came across another guy like that. I found a simple post about his day, and somehow, he managed to insult and sexualize all three women he mentioned: his girlfriend, his ex-wife, and a woman working at the party he attended.
One thing I’ve noticed is the ease with which they talk about sex. Not in a mature way, but in a way that’s...
I can't quite explain it. Dirty?
Both the first guy, talking about all his fetishes and kinks, and the second one, talking about "having hot sex with his girlfriend", made me uncomfortable.
"Uncomfortable" is a good word to describe their posts.
I thought about saying something like, "This type of man talks about women the way people talk about catching Pokémon", but I think people who actually like Pokémon wouldn't talk that way.
The objectification and dehumanization of the women around them come so naturally that they don't even notice it, they have no fear of showing that side of themselves or of being called out.
You can tell just by reading that he has an inflated ego.
That’s the type of man I usually avoid at all costs. I could send messages lecturing them about their rotten personalities, but I’m not a babysitter for grown men.
I usually don’t talk about this kind of thing, you know, the whole "don't like it? don't read it."
But I tend to read every post in portuguese I find on Bear, and I end up finding stuff like this. If I had a coin for every weirdo I’ve run into, I’d have two coins, which isn't a lot, but it is strange that it’s happened twice.
I just wanted to share this situation and maybe find others who have dealt with similar things.
If you’re one of the people I mentioned here, or if you identified with the men I described, please do not contact me. I didn’t mention anyone’s name or blog, and, in case it wasn't clear, I have absolutely no desire to speak with someone like you.
Thanks for reading!
